Evensongs in Houten, the Netherlands, and London, UK

RSCM affiliate Protestantse Gemeente Houten (the Protestant parish of Houten) plans two evensongs in Houten and one in London.
Sunday 24 September at 17.00 the choir of the Protestantse Gemeente will sing an an ecumenical Evensong in the Houten Roman Catholic church. The music is from the RSCM festival book “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done”.

Sunday 1 October at 17.00 there will be an Evensong service at the Protestant “Opstandingskerk” in Houten, with the Samen op Weg Youth Choir. Again the music is from the RSCM festival book. This youth choir will sing the same pieces at an Evensong service in London on Sunday 15 October at St John the Baptist, Holland Road, at 17.00.

Clergy, church singers and musicians and others interested in the relationship of music and liturgy, spent an interesting day together with John Bell of the Iona Community. The workshop was held at St John's in Gent and attracted more than 40 attendees who listened, sang and enjoyed a good lunch.

John Bell on Music & Liturgy: 6 May in Ghent
Registration deadline is 1 MAY

St John's Church, Ghent, will host a one-day workshop on Music & Liturgy led by John Bell of the Iona Community on Saturday 6 May 2017. This is in cooperation with the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) North-West Europe Region.
John Bell is known for his work as a hymn-writer, a member of the Iona Community and a broadcaster. He is a Fellow of the RSCM.
The day begins at 10.00 and is scheduled to finish at 16.00.
The cost is EUR 20, which includes refreshments and lunch.

The event will be at the Sint Elisabethkerk,
Begijnhofdries 1, 9000 Gent, Belgium,
which is the home of St John's.
